Guido Ceronetti hides behind the pseudonym of Mehmet Gayuk, a mysterious Turkish poet who lived at the time of Ataturk, which freed women from veils and walls. However, the confinement of the women had not been completely removed, neither from their hearts nor from their bodies.
And the masculine "we" of the verses incessantly dreams of forbidden bodies, and despairs before inexorable doors:

Wars and massacres are the constant backdrop to the poems – both distant ones: Lepanto, the Mongols, the Ishmaelites, and very close ones: the Dardanelles campaign, the extermination of the Armenians, Allenby's entry into Jerusalem, the terror caused by Lenin on the other shore of the Black Sea.
Quando finalmente riuscimmo ad entrarci
e scoprimmo che il Gineceo era vuoto,
senza più voci e grida, senza più suono
di amanti, di sorelle, di esposte, di veroniche,
e che a terra e sui letti disfatti erano sparse
come uno sbaragliato almagesto le loro collane,
ci prese il panico e ci precipitammo
verso la porta, ma la trovammo chiusa
e da allora siamo costretti a dimorare da esclusi
in quel due volte triste labirinto di stanze
trasformato da noi in una bestemmiante caserma
di ascari mai lavati eppure impregnato sempre
del profumo di tutte quelle donne dileguate
che non per voto amammo ma per destino
la cui immagine cesserà tra breve di dominarci
e questo, insieme a fiotti repentini
di voci che ci sembra a volte di riudire,
ci fa piangere contro i muri e quasi del tutto
perdere la ragione.
A volume in the 8vo format (mm 260x165) of 88 pages entirely typeset by hand in metal movable type, letter by letter. One by one, each sort was arranged on the composing stick to form the words and the lines of text.
The text type is 12-point Tallone, designed by Alberto Tallone, hand-cut on steel punches by Charles Malin in Paris and cast by Radiguer in 1949.
The slipcase and box are handmade in-house. On the outside, they are covered with Ingres paper. The book title is letterpress-printed on the slipcase’s spine.

Neither monotype nor linotype are used. These typesetting systems from a keyboard are often passed off as manual typography.
The Tallone Press does not print from plastic relief plates either. Derived from digital compositions, they are very much in vogue to simulate the effect of type impression onto the paper.
The number of movable types handled for the manual typesetting of this book, makes it an exceptional endeavor in contemporary fine printing.
