On the 13th December 1971 to Pablo Neruda was given the Nobel Prize of Literature.

Fifty years after the awarding (1971-2021), the choice to print "The Nocturnal Train" (from "Sumario. Libro donde nace la lluvia", Tallone Editore, 1963, first edition) is a way to pay homage to the Poet who, like his friend Alberto Tallone, was an enthusiastic lover of steam locomotives, an archetype of a liberated time, that of poetry and travel, as expression of knowledge and dynamism.

Never has a lover expressed her passion, all the stirrings of her ardent heart, so truly and completely. Marianna (born in Beja, Portugal in 1640) wrote her distant lover five immortal letters, in which the cries of love beautifully explode.

First published in 1669, these Letters quickly became a literary classic.

The Canticle of the Sun, also known as the Canticle of the Creatures, is a moving hymn to the beauty of Creation in the form of a song of thanksgiving to the Lord. Written in 1225, it is considered the first poem in vernacular Italian.

“Praise be to you, my Lord” is repeated throughout the Canticle to thank God with all his creatures, starting from our Brother the Sun who brings light and the day. The work of the first great writer in vernacular, the Canzoniere is a cornerstone of Italian literature, and includes 366 poems written and perfected over a lifetime.

The central theme is Petrarch’s love for Laura, whom he met in Avignon in 1327. This unfulfilled love is reflected in a wide range of moods, which oscillate between the sentimental idealization of his beloved and the painful awareness that this earthly passion hinders his spiritual tension towards God.

This collection of poems gained Neruda international recognition. It was published in Santiago, Chile in 1924, when the Poet was twenty years old. The collection includes some of Neruda's most famous poems, among which Cuerpo de mujer, Te recuerdo como eras, Me gustas cuando callas.
